Capstone Experience: CGI Team

The CGI team this semester consists of project manager Kevin Long and team members Brad Smith, Sam Cash, Stephen Dill, John Ireland and Nikita Davis. Our project team has the pleasure of working with CGI Group Inc. which is a multinational information technology consulting and business process servicing company. CGI is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, and specializes in IT consulting, outsourcing and systems integration. Our team will be focused on the front-end of CGI’s Trade360 Portal. The CGI Trade360 Portal is a web-based application that is designed to fully meet the needs of corporate customers by enabling the deliverance of exceptional service along with robust functionality.
The team will create a calendaring prototype that will simulate future system features and will integrate data visualization into the current Trade360 system. The proposed solution will:
• Allow users to better monitor international trade transaction flows, milestones, and events.
• Provide insight and granularity into key financial events
• Deliver a robust visualization of financial and transactional data to facilitate effective analytics
The project team started by researching CGI’s current Trade360 Portal system in order to gain knowledge about what the system currently does, how it works, and the issues associated with it. We also conducted preliminary research on various calendaring tools and presented them to CGI to get clarification of product functions and project scope. We have also discussed different technical strategies to best implement the calendaring tool such as reviewing several calendaring tools’ APIs and plug-ins. Thus far, we have accomplished many of our deliverables including items such as the project charter, which details our goals and expectations for the project. We also have a hold on the design of the prototype with various use cases, user scenarios, process flows and detailed mockups and wireframes.
We are currently in the process of building our prototype and the team is looking forward to delivering our first iteration of the prototype, which will be showcased to CGI’s Management Advisory Committee on October 21, 2013.
