Being a College of Engineering transfer last semester, I was really surprised when Dr. Hale addressed our MIS 295 class informing us that the program was hosting an interview prep session on Tuesday August 30, 2011 at 6:00 pm. I was not aware of such events while studying at the College of Engineering, especially as an underclassman.
At the AIMS meeting, I was very impressed with all the information that was presented. Andrew Machtolff, Dr. David Hale, and Dr. Joanne Hale provided a lot of helpful information, handouts, and insight into future career paths for the MIS graduate. I really enjoyed the way the meeting was conducted, with the three of them just building on each other’s ideas and thoughts.
After the AIMS meeting, there was a Welcome Back Barbeque over in the AIME building. Several of my fellow classmates and I walked over together and were able to meet and talk to some upperclassmen for a while. At the barbeque, I was eating with a MIS 295 student ran into Ham Fancher, a capstone student that I went to Pelham HS with (small world). I was impressed by how close all the students were and how easy they were to talk to.
I have really enjoyed the MIS program so far and cannot wait to dive deeper into the field. I would like to encourage all of you to come to the next event and become acquainted with your fellow MIS colleagues. It is an invaluable resource that will tremendously help you out in your path towards your career.
