While the weather has begun to become cooler, activity on the Alfa project has heated up. The objective of our project is to improve Alfa’s Farm Rater process. This is an important project for Alfa because they are a leader in providing Farm Insurance in the state of Alabama. Alfa started selling Farm Insurance in 1946 and it has been a source of company pride ever since.
Recently, the team has begun to wrap up the Analyze phase and is moving towards the Design phase. This week, we had a teleconference with Jake Carroll, an Alfa agent, in Moulton, Alabama. We presented our wireframes of the future system. Jake, being a current user of the system, was very helpful in providing feedback to further improve our wireframes. The team has begun to learn J2EE, in preparation for coding the new system. We have also learned to decipher COBOL to more fully understand Alfa’s subroutine.
Alfa has stayed in constant contact throughout the project and has been very willing in helping us move towards the future system. On October 18th, we will travel to Montgomery to update the Corporate Office of our progress and to further gather requirements for the future system. We as a team are enjoying this project and our looking forward to getting into the design phase.
