The UA MIS Capital Campaign is off to a solid start! The campaign team has conducted 7 mini-campaigns in the last 8 months and we are weeks away from closing them out and benchmarking the success as well as noting lessons learned before the launch of the alumni wide campaign. We are now on to area wide alumni events! To explain, before rolling the campaign out to the entire alumni through means of e-mail or letters, we are instead re-connecting with alumni and explaining the campaign on a personal basis.
This past Thursday we held our 1st area wide alumni event at Brown’s Corner in Downtown Tuscaloosa. With over 40 people in attendance, along with faculty, staff and students the event was a success in many ways. Not only could alumni connect with former classmates and faculty over light h’orderves , they could also understand what has been evolving in the MIS program and first hand experience how the value of their degree is increasing year after year!
Dr. Joanne Hale, the campaign director, started the night off explaining the reason a campaign is necessary and the overall goals of the campaign. Dr. Hale focused on how the program has significantly grown along with the university as a whole, and she is dedicated to the high touch mentor based educational model the program is distinguished by, but of course this comes at a rising cost. The response from the alumni was very positive and we as a team are looking forward to the upcoming events in Birmingham and Atlanta this summer! The dates will be released in the next few weeks, but in the mean time if you are interested in learning more about the UA MIS Capital Campaign, you can visit www.uamis.com.
