MIS 340 is the program’s course on data communication. It teaches us the history of networking and how to leverage connections and information sharing to create real value in a global business environment. Up to this point we have been “filling our toolbox.” We have learned about the good old days of mainframes and dumb terminals, the current internet technologies, and protocols.
Sam has been planning on taking us to a tour of a real data center and other hands on experiences to help us see data communication not just in an academic setting, but in an industry standard implementation, as well. We are all very excited to see the experience and knowledge we will gain from the rest of the semester.
